Fostex MR-8 + drum machine?

Hey i've got a question,

as we all know the MR-8 does not have a built-in drum machine. However, is it possible to connect a, say, Alesis SR-16 drum machine via MIDI and use it in the recording? I'm pretty clueless about that stuff and would be grateful for advice.

Have a look at Synchronizing with MIDI in the User Manual. I am not a MIDI expert but I understand that you can create a tempo map in the MR8 which would control a drum machine.
The best advice is look in the manual and give it a go! You can't bust anything.
