Fostex model 812 Desk

I have just obtained a Fostex Model 812 desk and have not used a desk like this before.
I am looking for a users manual or info on how it works/how to set up

Fostex doesn't have manuals for discontinued models on their site, but they still carry them. If you call the tech support or email them, they will send it to you. Someone on the board called them and got a manual from them for about $10.00.
I have never heard of the 812, what exactly does it do?
Just curious... :o
 
Hi, Thanks for the info thats great. I have left an email for them but being christmas no reply for a while I don't think. The desk seems to be a 12 channel input into an 8 bus output, but am having trouble with sound bleed accross the buses may be a fault or just the way I am tring to use it?????? hense the need for a book.

Ah, Ok.... I hope they send it to you. Without knowing exactly what you are doing, it could be hard to help with that one. If they respond and can't help you, try to come back in here and post your problem along with your signal chain and steps you took, I bet you could get some help. There are a lot of really smart people here, I'm sure they can get you going.

My Fostex 812 is in the spare room waiting for me to sell it!
I have acquired an Allen and Heath, supposedly better?
(anyone like to comment?)

I can tell you that the desk is a very good one no matter what anyone says!!!

I can confirm that the phantom power is 48v and not 24v as some people say.

I can also confirm that routing without the manual is impossible!!

If all else fails I could photocopy mine but I live in Northern England!!

Maybe you could scan it and save it as a pdf and email it to him?
 
Or scan a picture of the console and I will tell you how to route on it. All though a scan of the manual is probably more useful:)

I did contact the supplier in my area but the cost maybe a bit high I feel if only it was $10-20 like some had said.

I had another try at the set up last weekend to even more loss of what little hair I have
So may be in the end I will have to bite the bullet and pay the price to save my sanity
