Fostex g-24s

Just got hold of an tape recorder Reel to Reel.
Fostex G24S.

This machine comes with 15 tapes in different qualities and the price is USD 1.588. and all connections to mixer.

Can I say no to this deal ???

What's up! I think that that is a very nice price for the reel to reel.
You may want to take in consideration the following. I just bought a B-16D for $ 700.00 initially $800.00 but I talked the music store into refunding $100.00. When I ran tape through it the transports turned backwards.Not good. I took it in to a Fostex authorized repair shop and I got a quote for $450.00 to fix it. I decided it was worth the investment, now I have atleast $1100.00 into the machine. For $450.00 they are going to fix it , do the maintenance on it ,fix a couple uv meters that are out, basically bring it to factory specs like it just came out of fostex. So, what is my point, that is a very nice price but also factor in spending atleast a few hundred dollars to have the maintenance done on it because let's face it these machines are older. After that it hopefully should log many years of reliable service. Oh, almost forgot,save enough in the budget for tape!!!

I have had it now for almost a week and all the functions available works. I have tested them all and it works just fine.
But like you say I´m going to get Fostex to have a look at it and do some maint. whatever needs to be done. But I cant see it beeing to expencive.
A new tape over here is 90 dollars. So like you say I going to save the money for that.
