I have a Fostex E8 and E2...(both 1/4 inch) The E2 motors are very strong, however, in order to get them up to speed on FF and RWD I have to hold the tension arms up because they don't go up far enough to engage the motors. May I have your advice on how to manage this tension arm problem. The springs are there helping but they simply are not strong enough to pull the arms up high enough so that the E2 will not rewind nor fast forward...when I hold them up...the motors hum...thank you very much for your help and advice.

Hi,

I am having the same problem on my E-22.

I bought an oscilloscope and a tentelometer in order to do a full mechanical calibration.

But the problem is still consistant.

Then I picked up another machine I have been working on in the meantime, I have been meaning to get back to the E-22 and figure it out soon but still haven't gotten there.

I found one other person having this problem on tapeop.com forums but they didn't get it solved either.

thanks At least it records outstanding.

I think there are springs that need replaced, At least it records outstanding, and hey, it rewinds so fast, that holding up a tension is not that disturbing. Thank you for your reply.
