Yes you can... just plug in an optical cable(Fiber optic cable)out of the Fostex and into the CD recorder.

Is it that simple? Will their be any tricks to sync them? I would appreciate your thoughts
Are than any other thougths on how to mix down from the fostex with an internal hard drive. The dealer said that I would need to archive to a digital tape machine. I can't afford both a cdwr and a dat machine so I figured I could as long as I was happy with the mix just make copys of the cd to use for demos
I aoppreciate your help
Thx
Joe

make several mixes before you re-use the space on the hard drive. Then you will have a choice later on to pick from.

It sounds like there were two parts to your question --- mixing and archiving:

You can archive your multi-track recordings from the DMT-8vl to DAT or even to recordable CD. If you are going to CD, though, just make sure you disable the automatic tracking number feature. You want to record all 8 tracks to the CD recorder like it were all one song. It gets recorded sequentially ---- but it does work pretty well --- I've done this millions of times without a glitch. Make sure you follow the directions in the manual and you can archive any multi-track song yopu have to reload later for new mixes.
