Hello everyone,

I need some questions answered, if you can help me out:

I want to use external converters with it, and will use the optical in. Can it handle 96K? Can the adat I/O handle 96k?

One of the problems I see is the fact that you can only record with the spdif digital input to tracks 1 and 2 (that's weak, IMO). So, I want to use a spdif to adat converter - the ADAT input allows you to assign to any track. I should then be able to get spdif in to any of the tracks. Am I right? Or wrong? or confusing you?

BTW, how are the onboard converters on this machine?

thanks for any help!!!

The converters are some of the best made. They use the same converters as TASCAMS'MX2496 except Fostex converters are one model up on both D824 and D1624. If you want to send 24bit/96K signal, you can get an AES/EBU card. Also, Fostex is working with Panosonic to record DVD RAM at 96K. Don't let anyone fool you, DVD RAM will sound better than 44.1 CDRW. The quality is all there, you guys are just getting in on great prices. Skippy and I bought early so we paid a lot more- such is the world of audio recording.
