so you'd think. they've never been the epitome of a customer service model. I think I've seen 1 or 2 questions answered by a moderator. just today I got 2 personal messages asking how to do stuff. I might just start referring them here. You guys no know more than me. I've been a Tascam guy up until the last few months!

Im in the same boat as you.I just recently started using the VF-16 earlier this year.I've always been a Tascam Portastudio user.;)

Yeah, it is very unfortunate that no Fostex people will actually post anything there- that place is a great object lesson in how *not* to run a "customer feedback" site. I find myself acting as almost a Fostex apologist at times, and that offends me. Oh, well.

They need to get off their butts, or that place will wither on the vine- as if it could wither more....

Whatever happened to the Fostex BBS? Every time I try to go there I get an Ikonboard error. I just ordered an 80 and know it's gonna be problematic. :P

It has been dead for weeks now. I occasionally drift by to see if they've noticed, but it would appear that nobody from Fostex ever actually looks at it. The error is "you have to remove the installer script before Ikonboard will run, bozo!", or something to that effect. It's very sad... That could have been a decent resource, if they'd have gotten some of their product specialists to look at it and contribute from time to time. Oh, well.

There's some good stuff in the archives there, but I've found if you really have a question, emailing fostex technical support works great. The two times I've done it, I've gotten a reply the same day.

It hasn't been taken down, as in a policy decision to no longer have it. Rather, it appears that they were trying to upgrade it to a newer revision of the software, and whoever the administrator is has screwed up the installation so badly that it won't run. And apparently nobody inside Fostex ever looks at the site, so they don't _know_ that it is dead.

I really don't think that it is a policy thing- I think that it is a simple lack of competence on the part of the site administrator. I sent some email to "webmaster@fostex.com", but haven't got a reply: most likely they don't even have that role account there, and it just went into the bit bucket.
