Still Learning.......
I'm currently using a Behringer MX2004a mixer, but have the opportunity to buy one of these Mixers cheaper than what I paid for the Behringer only 6 months ago.

Has anyone had any experience with this mixer and is it any good as an upgrade from the Behringer? It has direct outs which is better than the Behringer already........

Opinions please!

I have had one for 10 years and it's great, does everything you need. Level is -10dB but +4db is just a myth anyway..! Let me know if you need any info.

I owned one years ago. I would say you are looking at maybe a small step up in overall quality, but if it has the features you need that you don't currently have, go for it. Personally, I would save a tiny bit more and get A soundcraft, or yamaha or something else. But, sometimes Budget dictates:D

Doesn't the Fostex use RCA outs to send to tape? +4 is no myth, but a reality that some people have to learn to work around. Is unbabalanced RCA noise just a myth too?

rca/balanced

+4db came from the telephone companies (using miles of cable) as a way of cutting down accumalitive noise over long distances. -10db is usually put in practice over short distances and is without the transformers used in +4db equipment (therefore more pure). So unless one has a recording booth down the other end of the street..! Wish I was better to explain..there's a whole thread on this subject somewhere on this site.

Thats a wonderful lesson on the origination of +4. However, most all pro gear runs at +4. It doesn't matter if its right or wrong, but only that it is. Therefore there is no myth concerning +4.

In fact, in rereading your post, I don't think you are talking about +4 or -10 at all, but rather the difference between unbalanced and balanced cabling. Even in a 12" cable run there are situations in which a balanced cable can function better. But voltage is voltage, therefore +4 and -10 will always be different.
