Fostex 450 to Fostex A8

hello all, hope yall doing well, chillin,

Last time I was around here I had a Tascam 244, and was new to it, now I can mess around with it and create demos. Now I have received a Fostex A8 reel to reel and a Fostex 450 mixer from a friend. The question is what cables do I need to connect my Fostex A8 to the mixer? They gave me a snake cable of 8 RCA to 8 1/4” but I don’t think it’s gonna work with the mixer, will I need a 8 RCA to RCA snake cable? I think I figured out that 8 rca would go to the output of the Fostex A8 but would the other 8 go to Tape in of the Fostex 450? I’m not too sure what the proper connections are. Any advice is appreciated !
 
I suspect they were probably running the RCA to 1/4" snake into a 1/4" patch bay, to allow some easier outboard gear patching / routing. Or they just gave you some random snake.. dunno.

You would need 8 channel RCA to RCA for playback from the A8, and 4 channel RCA to RCA for output from the mixer, to the 4 inputs of the A8.

As far as I can tell.

He has 8 inputs and 8 outputs available versus your 4 inputs (reel to reel) / 8 outputs (mixer), but the general approach is similar.
