formatting a new card

I just picked up a kingston 512 flash card for my MR-8.

Now, is there anything i need to do before i put it into the MR-8? Formatting, software updates?

update

make sure you have the most current software from fostex, when you format your new card, i think you have to hold the stop key down as you turn the unit on.....
