I've just met a guy that has made me hate the sound of foam.
I have pulled every piece of foam out of my room and will be now be using his stuff exclusively!
The one thing I didn't think I could have as a home studio vs. the big boys was a great sounding room (something beyond just slapping on a nice reverb).
His name is Michael Green and he comes from an Audiophile background / has some really interesting ways of looking at / treating sound in a room (I.E. things of brass spikes etc.).
I've bought one of his "Tuning Boards" for my guitar amp and now it just sings (even plays louder). It's weird, but all the notes seem balanced and I find I'm not using compression any more.
I've seen a sound stage and a couple of vocal rooms he has designed and they're just amazing.
If you've got the recording setup, mics and players then your room is the next step.
Check the guy out!

We 'sposed to just fly to Royal Oak and walk around yelling his name, or you got a link? :=)

Nah, I've got spikes on one of my walls too - use 'em to hang door-to-door salesmen and religious proselitizers.

Other than that, doesn't everybody use solid silver, oxygen free, $5,000 wires for their stuff? Couldn't cost more than about $12 mil to connect an 8 channel board, and think of the braggin' rights... :=)

Tell me more! I've got a $20,000 budget to upgrade my room to the "next" level and I need an expert that can guide me. I'm willing to pay for consultation.

Wow, $20k for the "next step" - that "kept man" gig is really workin' for ya. Say, I've been known to tell people where and how to "stick it" for a lot less, maybe we can work a deal :=)

They can't revoke your soul for trolling, can they???:D:D:D

Warning shot to the head usually works for me...

you do have to love that fact that the dumbass never even posted anyway to get in contact with who he was spamming for.

Let me guess... he uses green marker on HIS foam????

(it would takes about $20K of green markers to color 4" foam!)

So... what exactly is an audiophile and why are they so ridiculus?

I wasn't trying to generalize on audiophiles as such... more just the cult faction of them who propogate the ridiculous audio myths (such as green marker edging on CDs to make them "sound better" and other similar nonsense)....

An Audiophile is a person who can't keep their hands off other peoples nib-nobs. When Masteing Engineers make fun of Audiophiles, you know that something isn quite right.

Thats why, if you run a pro studio, you should have a sign in the console room (white background, red lettering) of the additional fees that you have.

$5 per knob touched.
$7 per fader touched.
$10 for patch cord touched.
$20 per incident for eating, drinking in the console room.
$1,000 per incident of lighting something (cig, cigar, pipe).

frederic... don't forget to add:

$20 per upper gastrol intestinal destress release
$70 per lower gastrol intestinal distress release
$90 for every decal on your road case
$500 just because your an idiot and I have to deal with you

hahahahaha
