If that's the case then maybe you should try not to being Doug Aldrich and Paul Gilbert as well.
Ooh...Paul Gilbert...as of late, he's my favorite. And I didn't even know of him before just a couple years ago. Funny thing is, I his playing way better than his tone.
Very nice! I agree that the lead tone has that Satriani-like quality that nowadays sounds "generic", but it's still a nice tone

I really like the chord progressions and you have a great sense of melody and composition. Definitely worth a few more listens as I sit here and "work"
I would love to hear a nice dot number too, looking forward to it!

Thanks Dave! After having heard your stuff, I really appreciate the listen and the input!
Oh, so you think you can just come here and dump whatever comes out of your fingers when you're bored???

Well, keep on doing it.....

This is Whitestrat to me, Bob, it's your lead style all the way and I don't see why you should change it. To me it's instantly recognisable. I wish I could sing on one of your songs.

Mix sounds lovely.
Hey Joe! It's cool to know I have a "sound." The funny thing is, I think all of the "finished" pieces I've posted here (and thus what you know my sound by) were done with my POD. I love my amp, but even after having it for a while, I was still recording with the POD because it was just so easy for me.
Anyway, this one is the amp. So it's a bit of a journey getting my recorded amp to have "my sound." It certainly does to my ears in the room, and I think with these settings, and the mics I used on this one--I've just about got it recorded as well.
(And you WILL sing on one of my songs--I promise!)
Mellow in the lovely sense - the edge remove for pleasant listening.
Really well played. My preference is for the slower parts not that the shred takes over it's just that you're more expressive when dealing with melody.
If I could play like you I'd be noodling & shredding on everything. If I could capture like you I'd record my every waking moment.
You do this stuff soooo well that I'm really jealous.
On an unrelated topic:
Q. Is McGuinn really playing pandanoodling modes in 8 Miles High or is he just fluffing the notes for grace value? It sounds cool BUT...
Geez...thanks Ray! I agree about the melody vs. the fast stuff--especially on this one. Sometimes I'm just jamming, but every once in a while, I'm really singing with my lead guitar "voice." This is one of those--I'm singing a song for someone I lost. To that end, I re-tracked all the leads. (See below.) There's still some noodly stuff in there, but I definitely did a better job of singing what I was feeling.
Hey...who's that masked noodler with the fast fingers?
With those wicked fingers of yours, I should give you my Jackson...at least it would be caressed in a proper manner...but...I said *should*...I'm a stingy wench with my babys.

Your Nana would be proud of her melody..but I have clue she already was..
Thanks True. Unfortunately, my Nana hadn't heard me play in years. But she was always an encouragement. In fact the first piano I ever played was in her family room. I didn't do anything but bang on keys for the longest time, but she still loved it!
