I have a pair of YSM1P's, which are plugged into my crappy on-board soundchip via a Y-adapter (one 1/8 - two 1/4).

The 1/4's (@ the monitor's) do not seem to make a good connection, and never have. The slightest movement and they crackle/drop out/etc..

Has anyone else had this happen, or have suggestions to correct this?

Thanks.

Could be just a cheap adapter. I have noticed that problem with lowend adapters. They seemed a little small for the jack and would crackle when
moved. I'm going RCA to a mid grade, 1/4" adapter, without any problem, on my Yorkies.

What kind of soundcard do you have?

I'm thinking of getting a M-audio 2496...

Is the other connection on the YSM's a "neutrik" connector? Have you ever tried using it?
I can't access the yorkville website for some reason... haven't been able to all day...

Thanks.

I have a stand alone digital recorder. The M-audio gets recommended alot, it would probably be worth upgrading. The other connecters on mine are xlr. I haven't tried 'em.

Do it!I just upgraded from onboard sound and I'm digging the 24/96!

Doesn't anyone use the XLR plugs on their YSM1's???

Yea, unfortunately the 2496 is not in the cards this time around. I've run out of money once again.
I'm going to throw $20 down and get a Y-adapter with XLR plugs instead of the crappy 1/4's I've been using. If only I had the $80 extra to get the 2496... so close, yet so far... :(

I have the YSM1P's as well, and I had a similar problem when using the TRS jacks, however the signal only dropped with I 'touched' the TRIM knob on the back of the speaker.

Turned out to be a problem with one of my speakers, so I stopped by the local Long & Mcquade here in Toronto, and they fixed it under warranty with no hassle. Maybe yours has the same problem or not.
