Just finished a band called Redout - a five song EP. Very influenced by RHCP. They're all 17 and 18 years old!! They have a Myspace page, so you might wanna hear what our little room (Studio B) sounds like:

Nice overall sound, particularly the snare, it's quite RHCP.

I think the singer needs to get the melody out of his boots and let rip here and there if they want their songs to be in any way memorable. The odd hook now and then wouldn't hurt either. The sounds are good but the tunes are imo very average

Thought this'd be a cover of the thread name tune.
Nice capture.
RHCP is a dismissive term from my taste but I can heard the influence in the cord progressions - perhaps RHCP lite - but then again the CPs aren't all that RH in intensity either.

What pisses me off is that I've spent months on those tracks, tuning all the vocals and bass tracks (often note by note), cutting and pasting drum fills, and adjusting guitar levels and effects, bar by bar.

And no mention of where they recorded it or who the engineer was - anywhere.

That one pisses me off sometimes, especialy as I always mention to whomever I'm recording at the time about it. It's a sort of pre requisit to recording in my studio. Use my tools and I get a mention. :)

You should have overcharged the little bastards. If Harvey Gerst was lead engineer on my project, I'd be bragging to the whole damn world about it.

Nah, when they're ready to do the next 5 songs, I'll tell them I'm too busy, then laugh when the next batch turns out shitty recorded somewhere else.

:p

Good tracking and mixing. Sound quality and mix balance are good on the system here. The autotuning isn't noticeable. I can only imagine what the vocals were like before autotuning... as they're still kinda drifty in pitch control. I like the guitarist though.

the production is "ok" to my ears, but that is probably myspace. There is an awful lot about it that screams "indie" to me.

Yeah, that's kinda what they wanted. The oldest member is 18 and the band's only been together a few months, so there's not a lot I coulda done to really polish it.

Those guys are pretty good, esp. considering how young they are. Nice job on the production! Ya it sounds indie, but I like indie, reminds me of a decent local band - pretty good, not perfect.

exactly! Some of those wah leads remind me of hendrix.
