What's you favorite synth software to produce the sounds? Any recommendations?

I'm working on getting my midi keyboard (Maudio keystation 49e) set for recording and was curious...

What makes you think we all use soft sythns?

My controller actually usually controls my rack of synth modules.

I haven't really found a soft synth I really like yet.

Until recently I had two softsynths which I didn't like but couldn't really do without. The first is AAS Lounge Lizard, for which no direct hardware replacement exists that I am aware of. I'm still stuck with that one.

The other lovely softsynth is Waldorf's PPG 2.V, since the chances of me affording a real PPG are very remote. However I have just acquired a Waldorf MW1, which is the next best thing. I will probably continue to use the PPG softsynth as a sound designer, but port the sounds to the MicroWave for the actual recordings since it causes less grief than trying to integrate the software with the rest of the recording rig.

Yeah I meant soft synth, forgot you can control the rack too  oops,

anyway...
sounds like it's hard to get a good soft synth. I haven't found anything I've liked yet either so I was hoping somebody did.

I'll check out that one you meantioned jpmorris and maybe it's better than what I got. Need to start getting some quality 70s synth action in my songs :D

i have a total newbie question-- there is a $30 casio keyboard at the pawn shop down the road that has a midi out. i can buy this and use it as a midi controller to do stuff like drumkit from hell or something like that, correct?
