FOr sale: Otari 1/2" 8-track

I am selling an Otari 1/2" 8-track - model- MX5050. It is a two-piece unit with the reel-to-reel on top and the channel VUs, etc. on the bottom. It will come with the snake, take-up reel, a few blank reels of tape and the upright stand. $375 If there is interest, I will post picts.

Might be interested....would like to know the vintage/age of the 5050 and the condition of the heads, transport, etc.

Otari 1/2" 8-track - BG info

I bought the unit 15+ years ago in LA from someone who used it in their studio. I do not know the exact vintage though I believe it is probably from the late 50's. It was in full working order at that point and I was told everything had been serviced prior to the sale, though I have no real verification of that. I have only used it a few times since then. Most of the time it has been stored. I was never able to get the 8th track to record, though it I heard it playback when I purchased it - so I don't know what the problem is. It is time to get it in the hands of someone who will use it - it really is a fine piece of machinery.
