Do you ever set up your modelling chain through your monitors and use that to get feedback effects? Would you advise against this since i guess its bad for your monitors? or is it relatively common practice. because to me, a big advantage of using a real amp is just the fact that you can sit right next to it and sustain for days and do all those crazy ambient feedback effects.

anyone do this?

Adam

Yea, it works. I do that all the time...
Here is an example. This is a song concept I am working on, it is still really rough but it will give you an idea. The first guitar is amplitube. The guitar that comes in at 7 seconds is a modeler, and you can it hear feeding back as it is about to come in.

Yea it works...
But I do not see how it would damage the monitors unless it is so loud that it could blow the speakers...But I'm not an expert either ..

I like that idea you're brewin up with the rough demo Amra, My kind of rock

If you go to my signature at the bottom and click the "myspace .com" page link..
Then just look for the track on the player over there called "Turd King" i have some long sustaining feed back there. It was recorded using the j-station and 3.5 powered monitors. Even the thing that sounds like a stringed synth is done making feed back on an electric guitar..Then I try this backward masking trick..All done in the sake of learning how to do recording tricks...

All my stuff is rough and old on that page,Please let us hear the guitar feedback when yer ready Marshall 409,,,,later

cool guys thanks a lot for the input and the great examples. you guys both have some cool stuff going on there.

im working on a metal/punk rock guitar ensemble version of eleanor rigby right now, and if i decide to try this for that song, i will definitely inform you guys.

thanks,

Adam

Thanks guys, glad you dug that. I'll post it in the MP3 section once we get time to go back and finish it...

The only watchout on this is if you're using a feedback suppressor. You'll get the cool guitar feedback until the suppressor kicks in a sucks the life out of your sound.

Obviously this doesn't apply if you're not using one of those...
