OK, another recording along the lines of Slack/Ametth's quickie composition challenge.

Emeric's adding bass and drums LAST.

It's ~1.6MB at my website. The Tom Bootleg Jam.

Wait till you hear this when it's done!

It's got some glitches that were due to the live internet recording but they fit right in with the theme of the blues.
The homerecording blues.

Gotta love them blues!

Hehe....sounded like somthing fell off a table or something around 55 seconds or so!

Dobro gets the "Name That Sound" prize!! One of Doc's cats sent the Dave-Mania Collection flying during the take.

This is tough doc. I'll give it a go though. I won't be able to play drums on this. I'll get someone who can.

It's all for fun right?

Hey, leave the cat alone!

He was just trying to throw in some percussion on the song. :D

I guess I was supposed to put drums and bass down.

As it turned out, I could not do either.

But, Pete stopped by for a beer, and gave it a try.

This is the result of generation, degradation.

But the song is still there.

I good example of *trying* to add drums to tracks 'after the fact', and what happens. Shit, good job, though:D

The cat must be put to sleep for desecrating the Davemania! collection!

But I'll download this & give it a whirl...

Buy Pete a beer on me! He wrapped that drum track around all the landmarks that evolved in the initial jam. Nice job.

And throw one in for yourself. You managed to not lose the sound of that CD avalanche. With 2 out of 3 source tracks for this recorded in hi-res it does a good job of covering up the initial chat-room limitation and the mp3 downsampling from the .wav mix.

This leads me to round three of the refinement in this system.

Basically what Waldo described as a custom front-end for nowhereradio collaborations, but constructed with whatever HW and SW is at hand.

The original "click" track- in this case Tom's rhythm guitar, & the drummer and bass player are recorded locally the same way I added the lead guitar; once they each upload their parts to the mixmeister's machine it will be possible to get a CD quality mix. But even a careful encoding at 128 won't set the quality standards back that far considering the convenience. And a mail-in method on a data CDR would allow even 24/96 .wav file sources.

And Dougie- fear not. The Davemania Collection is Safe. :)

Hey Dr., and Emerick (and Pete?), Cool stuff. It's pretty neat that the "tune" went from Connecticut, to California, and Canada over the phonelines and came out like it did (bad kitty, get down from there, vol. III). If we could figure out a way to get a cleaner sound via the lines on the "first track" (without simply shooting MP3s all over the place), that would be nice. I heard from someone that MAC had this thing with their new G2s that alows you "access" to some sort of virtual studio where, like pal-talk, more than one person can get into a room and do real-time recordings, mixing, conversations, etc... Tom.
