for all you ecm8000 and mxl603 lovers...

The winning bid was still $350 more than a pair of 603s and $430 more than a pair of 8000s. For another $500 or so you could have a pair of Neumann KM184s. So, although $510 for the pair is an excellent deal, I don't understand the point of your comparison.

. . . which the AKG's compare very favorably to. That's his point.

if your budget tops out at $150, then go with what you have to work with. If you like SD condensors, want a killer pair, have $510, this was an excellent buy. I tried to get them, but was sniped...I thought I had gone high enough.

that was my point... ..and Chess had a good point too.
