just wondering how many of you drummers out there have a special pair of "drummin' shoes" and what they are. i've found that i have a certain pair of shoes that's most comfortable for me when drumming (vans Maestro) compared to some of my other shoes. i know alot of musicians have their little "rituals" when it comes to playing their instrument. so, is anyone picky about their drummin' shoes?

;)

I drum barefoot. I find I have more control of the kick pedal that way.

shoes

i like to wear a pair of And One shoes, they are very soft and plyable.

so when you guys say barefoot, do you wear socks? if not, do you use a certain kind of pedal for barefoot drumming? i would imagine that bare feet might get sweaty and slip on the pedals. or maybe barefoot drummers have especially dry feet, hehe.

I wear a pair of black Nike Wrestling shoes. They have a very thin sole, and no arch support - so it's not something that you would want to wear every day, but they are great for drumming in.

Likewise, only I have a couple different pairs of Asics split-sole Wrestling shoes. I love um! Gives me great feel of my pedals.

Barefoot when the temperature permits, light moccasins when it's cooler or in public. It's a matter of personal preferance but I find light and soft shoes, if any, are the best. I used to have a pair of tai chi shoes and they were fantastic, light, soft, non skid bottoms, they look like ballet slippers but not many people look at your feet when you are behind a set of drums.

interesting stuff, maybe i'll try drumming in my Homer Simpson slippers, they are nice and soft and might give me a better feel. :D

the wrestling shoe thing sounds like a pretty good idea, if i see some on sale for cheap i'll pick up a pair and give 'em a try.

I've been experimenting a bit recently. For brain-dead hard and fast stuff, a bit thick pair of Vans are the choice. When I actually want to PLAY though, I need something with a significantly thinner sole. :)

I have shoes that have basically no sole. They're rediculasly thin. I'm a short guy anyway so it doesn't really help matter, but i can't drum in vans or anything with a thick sole :(

I switch between a pair of puma (as worn by thomas lang), and a pair ir Quicksilver shoes i found in Paris, they we're my favorite drumming shoes of all time. Unfortunaly i worn them so much they basically fell apart. It was a sad day.

I was looking for those, but couldn't find them in my size (I wear a 14.)
Nike's were the only ones I could find in a 14.

I prefer to wear leather moccasins with no "sole".

If I'm playing a "society gig" (meaning tuxes for the band) I wear a pair of black low top "tennis shoes"

i drum in skate shoes (more often than not cheap Vans alternatives cos i cant afford vans) all the time. no matter what genre i'm playing in. because they are so comfy i can concentrate on playing.

My best friend's stomperrific boots... these huge boots that are really heavy... They help put the KICK back in kick drum. And it also helps with double bass drumming.

If I'm at home and am wearing shoes I'll just slip them off and play in socks, but drumming any other time my feet are completely naked. I use a Pearl Powershifter P201P. They are special pedals, but not special barefoot pedals. :)

Bare feet, no socks, I just like the feel of pedal on foot
