Well done...

inspired by the poem/poster that I see so often.

The purpose of the change in the vox escaped me; I'm glad it did change though, I might not have been able to hang for the full song...

How did you record those overtones heard in between the power guitar chords? and...real drums?

Good song. As far as I understand the lyrics, nice!

Guitars are recorded really nicely. I like the tone. I didn't hear any extra noise.

Vocals are not fitting in quite well, I'd say. The voice is good but the yelling is not enough, maybe. I would definitely recommend re-tracking the vocals like there's no one else around and you can yell at the top of your lungs. :) edit: Listening again, vocals on the verse are good. Maybe scream the chorus a little more and with a little more passion. :)

Kick on the drums wasn't very visible.

Towards the end the cymbals/hats are being hit a really fast pace. Sounds a little unnatural.

Bass and guitars can stand to be made more heavy. :)

I listen to quite a bit of contemporary Christian music and I'd push for as many heavy bands as possible. :) You're doing good overall. :) My post is not meant to be discouraging at all, but encouraging even if it may sound negative. :) Keep rocking! :)

The drums were through DKFH Superior...I'm still learning...any adjustments I can make?

as for the overtones, if I understand correctly, I just plucked chords in 2 octaves.

Thanks for the feedback.

Thanks, for the feedback. I felt that way too about the drums at the end...too much going on. I lowered the volume of the bass...because I'm not a bass player, and there are many mistakes...hehe. I layered the guitars 4 times...maybe I'll do it a couple more...I feel like the guitars get lost in the mix during the chorus.

I'm a guitar player and I'm constantly trying to make the guitar the main instrument on any given song. But what I've found more and more by listening to so many great bands and song is that each instrument is there to play a contributing role in getting the main feel/sound of the song. So I've learnt to turn the guitars way down. Especially if you do anything 80s style or current rock 'n roll, pop rock, acoustic, the gutiars are way down. Actually, I think only on the contemporary metals genres the guitars have gone way loud. But even in case of loud, there's places where the guitars take a secondary role and either only play minimal chords in the back or are turned way down.

Anyhoo, hanging out around here listening to people's mixes and learning new techniques is very helpful.

I think all of us here who are not drummers and don't have a proper setup where they can record drums struggle with how to get proper drum tracks for their music. :)

Bass is another thing. I program midi notes and use those. I just try to EQ the crap out of the bass to make it sound like anything other than the MIDI bass that it is. :)

Any suggestions on the vocals? I feel like they are too compressed...I want to get a more open, airy sound, IMO.

Mic: AT4040 through Soundcraft Spirit M8 in an Echo Layla3G.

any other suggestions on the vocals, or on the mix in general? Thanks, again, for the help.
