Hey guys,

First of all, I am completely new to the studio-world, so I apologize for any stupid questions, and for my lack of knowlegde regarding this subject... I am also a non-native so my english skills probably could be better.... Anyway, on to the questions

I just bought a Focusrite Scarlett 2i2 which I want to use in FL Studio to record my guitar and my vocals, and then later program some drums...

I've watched a couple of youtube videos, but didnt get any helpful answers regarding my issues specifically....

I dont really know what my overall question is, but here is what I have tried so far, maybe it can help you helping me....

First attempt:
When i open up FL Studio, I connect my audio interface with my guitar and headphones plugged in... Then i go to Options > Audio Settings > Audio and then i put my input/output to Asio4all.... then i click on the "one-hit recording" button and choose "into playlist as audio clip" ... then it tells me to select an audio input first and i choose "Asio4all v2 Stereo" and it starts playing the metronome and recording over and over in the first playlist bar, but no sound is recording....

Second attempt:
I do the exact same thing, but instead of choosing "Asio4all v2 Stereo" i choose "Asio4all v2 mono input 1"
now it records what I play, but it still loops in the first bar/beat in the playlist, resulting in a large amount of different tracks as before

Third attempt:
I go to the audio settings and choose the Focusrite as Input/output and then try the one-click recording again as before, choosing stereo.... this time it loop-records again and i can see that it records the sounds i play on my guitar, but when i press play, there is no sound....

Questions:
How do I make it stop loop-recording?
What am I doing wrong?
How can I be able to hear what I record?

And thank you so much for taking the time to read this!

Hi Kasper, I suggest you forget about FL Studio and ASIO4all and download Audacity for now.

That should get you recording and playing back in short order and the perhaps the foibles of FLT can be worked out?

Dave.

Why are you wanting to use ASIO4ALL and not the drivers for the Scarlett from Focusrite?!

Hi Dave, thanks for the answer!

I've used Audacity for a short period when i was a lot younger, and the reason why i want to use FL Studio is because i can program drums at the same time as I record drums, and i can add effects to my guitar...
I dont know if I am able to do that in Audacity as I have little knowledge about the software...

The point is that I want to be able to create a "one-man-band" with vocals, drums, guitar and bass.... I have a microphone, a guitar, a bass and all i need is EZ Drummer so i can create the drums...

.... and i dont know what "foibles of FLT" means.... sorry :(

I dont know man, some guy on youtube told me to :(

I just try out stuff when people tell me to, hoping for the best..... again i have no knowlegde about the subject

So now you know, go to the Focusrite website and download the correct 2i2 drivers. Not sure there are many people here using FL.

" and i dont know what "foibles of FLT" means...."

It means I don't know much about FLT and how it sets up with interfaces so I would K.I.S.Sir and get Audacity working. Then you pretty much know that any other issues are down to Loops?

Dave.

Uninstall ASIO4ALL. Install the 2i2 drivers from Focusrite. Go from there.
