OK folks,

This unit is CHEAP, hmm, I think $380 is about the going rate online. I have been able to find exact ZERO reviews of this thing, and no one seems to know jack about it. Has anyone messed with this thing at all? It is a combo mic pre, eq, and comp thingy, kinda like the Joemeek Q stuff. Being an avid follower and collector of neato cheap front ends, I had to look at this thing. I am gonna go out to all the music stores this weekend and try to find one to mess with. If anyone knows anything about it, lemme know.

thx=)

I'd love to hear also.

I was looking at one this weekend at Mars hoping they would be selling off cheap. They were willing to deal but I hate to buy not hearing some users viewpoint.
They also had the Focusrite Penta for not much more.

real users info

I have read the typical sales jargon. I'd like to hear from real everyday users. How they compare to other offerings in the sub $1000 range.

Im not a fan of any of the platinum series Focusrite gear. I side by side compared my Symetrix 528 next to the Voicemaster, and liked my Symetrix much better. I have been extensively using a Red7 and an ISA110 on my recordings, so I do like Focusrite pre amps, just not the platinum products. This mainly pertains to vocal recording. For other things, you never know how it's going to sound. Also, the choice of mics makes a big difference. The mics I have been using are a Blue Mouse, an AT4033, a Neumann TLM103, and a Lawson (cant remember model) mic.

yeah, i kinda figured the P6 was probably not so hot.

for my budget i had planned to go with the joemeek VC1Qcs at $600, but i saw the P6 at $380 and was like, hmmm...

ahh well, get what ya pay for i guess. The 110 is well outta my range atm.

Well, I can't say I'm blown away by my Trakmaster, but I do like it. It's very warm sounding, as opposed to being extremely clean and transparant. It isn't the $3800 preamp for $380 that I would like it to be, but it's a nice step up from the $100 pre's. I think I'll get a Grace 101 next, and between the two I'll have two very different flavours.
