I am setting up in a new room and want to flush mount my Tannoy Proto-J nearfield monitors. I know its better to flush mount large monitors. Is it ok and/or superior to flush mount nearfields?

Larrye

i'm not familiar with the proto-j's but i have the tannoy pbm 6.5's and they have bass ports in the back, which would be bad if you flush mounted them....

larrye,

This was discussed here sometime back. It is possible to mount rear ported monitors.............use the search facility here on "flush mount" / "soffit" / "soffit mount". I'm pretty sure it was a few months ago, but it may have the answers you need.

Thanks Guys,
I had already done a search on soffit mounting nearfields but got no results. I just tried a search using soffit mount and got some help. The proto-j does not have a rear port so I guess I will try it.

I'd try it Larrye - flush mounting helps most speakers except those that have a bass boost added for freestanding.

cheers
john

Thanks John,

I know I am going to try if after you said to!!

Now if its not too much trouble, what do you suggest for my ceiling problem? (just posted it today)

Thanks a lot,
Larrye
