Can't help with Reaper, don't use it...

For this particular track, it sounds like you just need to turn up the overhead mic in Superior Drummer, and maybe a bit of the snare's mic as well. I would then mix down to a new track, then compress the track until the drums have the pop you're looking for. Reverb can also help fill things out, especially in providing the kick some 'boom' without muddying up the mix.

Which kit you use also matters a lot in Superior Drummer, the metal kit sounds much better for this style of music than the stock kit(s). It's a matter of the mic's being simulated, and the drums sampled. Each genre of music have certain drum heads and cymbals used.

Also, I seem to be having a problem with Reaper. It seems to freeze after every few seconds which is extremely frustrating. Is there any fix to this?

Check to make sure you are not having issues with your interface, that seems like a more logical reason for Reaper to freeze and stutter.

Toontracks sells the metal kit on their website, but it's also available through resellers on the internet. Not hard to find, just make sure the verison you buy is compatible with your version of Superior Drummer (may require some patches to SD to get it up to date/working).

The metal drum kit may introduce new issues as well as fixing some of the presence problems, so be sure to followup here if things still aren't quite right. I created a few presets for various styles of music in Superior Drummer. Default settings aren't the best IMO.

Your voice sounds a lot like Kurt Cobain. Vocals sounded pretty good. A spot or two where the double tracking was off.

I thought the guitars had just a bit too much gain dialed in. They were a little mushy/fizzy. They also lacked a little in the high midrange - sounded a little muffled.

The kick, to me, was a little too tight. I'd like a little more woof in it. I agree with the comment taht you could turn up the overheads a bit. Maybe turn down the snare a smidge as well.

I liked the feel of the song though. Good playing and a good vibe.

You should try choosing a different snare if you don't like the sound of this one. If this is the snare you liked best, you could try to change the intensity of the hits. I haven't used Superior Drummer but I'm pretty sure it's possible. And as everyone has mentioned, overheads need to go up.

I think the hi-hat sounds too tight, maybe choose a sample on the drum map with more open sizzle, and increase the velocity on the hats and snare. I'm pretty sure Superior uses more aggressive samples the higher the velocity setting. Dave Grohl beats the piss out of his drums.

I wish I could get the Dave Grohl sound. They always sound so aggressive.

Dave Grohl hits the drums with an enormous amount of power. If you edit the MIDI track yourself, you might want to increase the velocity of the hits to make them sound more Grohl'ish. It was however, Chad Channings doing the drum part on their first album.

Great cover of a tune that brings back so much memories (good and bad).
