Not sure if this has been covered in these forums but I am struggling to find anything of relevance on the internet. Basically I am looking to take my desktop and flat screen monitor with me out on the road in order to record mobile and to use some of the software during my live performances with my band, ie by hooking up my guitar etc. Obviously this mean farting around with a lot of bits and bobs when i come to set it up. Has anyone seen a flight case which holds both the desktop pc itself and a mounted flat screen monitor within so you can literally un-hook the lids, plug it in and away you go with out having to mess around too much with leads and so on! (I hope you are getting the point I am trying to make here) I have come to the conclusion that something like this is going to have to be custom built which isnt a problem but if anyone has an example of one or maybe something similar to give me a starting point to work from then I would be very grateful.

Thanks in advance

Rob

I'd be interested in that as well. But I haven't really looked. So good luck.

I had an idea for this a while ago that didn't end up panning out (didn't try it, the gear wouldn't physically fit into my car).

Basically, it involved getting a server-style case for the computer, and then mounting it into one of those mobile racks w/ rigs and a slanting top for a mixer. Then my thought would be to screw a mount a sheet of plywood into the slanting top (probably recessed a bit using thicker wood) and mount a flatscreen monitor onto it using a standard VESA wall mount. A 19" wide-screen monitor should fit, as the 19" measures the diagonal, not the width.

The idea was more or less what you're talking about, and those particular mixer style racks tend to have lots of extra spaces beyond the 3-4 you'd need for the computer, so you can also mount your interface and any other preamps/rack gear you want to haul around.

The real downside to it, however, would be the bulk and weight of the whole rig (which is why upon investigation, I found I couldn't even attempt the idea).

I have one. But you have to dissemble and reassemble in and out of the road case every time.
It's no big deal it's as much work as it would be to put your guitar rig up and down for shows at every venue.
