Good for surfing the net and typing up word documents in an office cubicle if that's what you mean.

At least it has one PCI slot!

According to the metric dimensions, it's not much bigger than a pack of cigarettes!

Really, this is cheapo crapola for surfing the net and typing up word docs.

Which I don't doubt, they do well (or maybe 'ok' if you don't mind lockups, blue screens etc from the $20 motherboard in it). For recording, you can do much better.

Yea, thats exactly what I mean. Don't you hate all the noise in cubicle rooms, or even non cubicle small offices? excess heat. These things have low power supplies so they can't be that hot. I have a noisey reliable PC for recording. But for family members that hate hot, loud PCs, I'm wondering if these are a good way to go.

Actually one of the forum members here uses the SS40 with a Delta 1010, and gets good results.

Which one? I want to know the heat, noise, and power consumption.

Here I am. I built my DAW with a SS50 barebones, 1.8 P4, 1 GB DDRAM, *) GB 7200 RPM ATA 100 HD, 24x CD burner. One HD is the limiting factor that I don't like. And this can be avoided if you skip the floppy drive (gives an extra drive bay for another HD, but I'm still not comfortable foregoing the floppy drive, old fashioned me). Otherwise it works like a dream. And it's so small it's easily portable. It's extremely quiet, runs at a temp around 40-50 C depending on the day (my studio itself gets HOT). I didn't go for the AGP version because I knew I would be using a Delta 1010, so I actually have a spare PCI slot. But if you want to use an nVidia card or need dual monitors, the AGP version will work too. I just use the onboard video since it's just for tracking at the studio. I usually take my tracks home to mix, but I have mixed on the Spacewalker too with no worries. Let me know if I can help in any way :D
