Earlier this year, I found this Tascam 6100 at a flea market for $100. I understand; it came from an estate sale and hasn't been used much. I hit the flea market every Sunday at 6 am and every season find some cool stuff.

The machine was dirty, and the belts were shot. I changed some caps, put on new belts, oiled them, and did a deep cleaning. I was lucky because it came with the remote and 10" reel - but no flanges and one of the splines was broken. I was able to get new ones on eBay.

If this had been a different model, I still would have bought it, but the 6100 is a unique and cool machine. It can playback four-tack (double-sided) tapes but was built to be a master recorder that utilizes the whole tape.

This machine is modeled as a plugin in the IK Tascam bundle:

Wow, beautiful unit. Just got the IK emulator btw, wish I had the real thing!

Thanks! I actually had the four-track version that I bought at the same flea market in the original box a few years ago but I sold it. It would have been cool to have both of them together but I don't have the space.

This one looks cool, though!

Bro... I'm jealous! Nice stuff.

I bet the LA-2As (genuine, yes?) weren't a flea market find though...

The pair of DBX 160s were - $40 each! One didn't work but it was a power transformer, which was about $10 and literally plugs into a harness. I ordered four of them to have some spares and because they were out of stock and shipping on one was kind of high. The other one went, but I had a spare.

The LA-2As are Audioscape. I had a UA reissue but I sold it and bought the pair with the 1176 (also AS). I kind of wish I had a pair of the 1176 and one LA-2A, but I'll probably buy another AS 1176 at some point.
