So i'm having trouble when recording kick drum. I want a deeper punchy sound the heads are all tuned great, good resonance from all drums not to much but just enough. Everything sounds good except my kick drum. I have tried 2-3 different mics and still no help. I'm not sure what im doing to be missing that deep punchy sound any advice?

You might actually have it tuned too low, which is not uncommon. Try tuning your resonant up by about 1/8 of a turn per lug. Also, where are you putting your mic?

Also, what kind of processing have you done in the mix? (compression, eq etc......)

Let's hear what you got.

also describe your set up - heads, mic, mic placement, etc.

It may also be the audio signal may need to be inverted because it is causing some sort of cancellation to the overheads.

tmix's response should be the first thing you check really. that way you don't wind up re-tracking if it is such a simple problem.
