Before you buy do a search in this forum. There was a thread awhile back that went for pages about what cards are compatible. I think the fostex site has a list of compatible cards also.

Yeah, I saw the Fostex list and it said Simple Tech 256 is compatible but it gave two different simple tech 256 cards. I'm hoping the simple tech on amazon I linked to is one of them since it is pretty cheap.

Alot of cards will work with the MR8 it's whan you begin bouncing tracks when it becomes an issue. I'm using a SimpleTech 512MB card, but I don't know if it bounces or not cause I don't use the function, I just put the tracks on my audio software and then add to the card again.

An issue to consider is how you plan to use the MR8. If you do all your mixing on a PC, which many do, then the bounce issue is mostly not relevant. It you need to bounce to do mixing directly on the MR8, then it matters a lot.

I use N-Tracks, I have never had to bounce anything. I got the Simple Tech 256 12X from Amazon for $54.99 which is the same one that MF sells for $79.99, which was said to be compatible with the fostex recorder. Plus there is a rebate that will reduce the cost to under $30. If you go to simpletech.com, they list the stores selling these cards. Amazon was cheaper than anybody for the 256 MB.
Here are the Amazon and MF ones for comparison....
