Functionally obsessed.
Hey folks,

So, I bought an Akai 1730D-SS (I think... it's at home right now) and there is a "dull roar" in one of the channels. It's not a matter of cleaning the heads - they're spic-and-span. There's an interval, and the noise repeats endlessly with even intervals. It sounds kind of like being six blocks from an ocean beach...

My hunch is that there might be a dirty contact somewhere, or that there might be a grounding issue. I'm clueless as to what this could be a symptom of, but I'm confident that I can find the problem by eliminating likely causes through trial and error.

I want to know, though, if anyone here has experienced this issue, or if anyone has a suggestion as to what this might be. Your help will be appreciated.

Thanks!!
Jeff

I'd be looking for a bad ic or transistor in the signal path on that channel.
