Fitting loops to tempo in Pro Audio 9

I've done searches with no luck.

I'm trying to figure out how to fit a drum loop sample to a certain tempo in Pro Audio 9. For example, say I have a loop at 98bpm and I want to use it for a song I'm doing that's 93bpm. I know Sonar and ACiD can do this quite easily.

Way back in the day, Pro Audio 6 had an option when importing wav files to "fit to time" or "fit to measure" or something like that. I remember using it before. But in version 9 I can't figure out how to do this.

I know you're thinking "why not just use sonar?" Well, I'll just say that it's driver/OS/convenience-related.

So if anyone can tell me how to do this in version 9, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Thanks.

did you get the fruity loops file from someone? (ie do you have FL?)

if you have FL you know you can load up the file and adjust the tempo down to 93bpm....then re-export the wave file...

sorry im not a PA9 user..just a FL user...

Do you have a program/plugin that can do timestreches?

The easiest thing to do is to change the tempo, is to timestrech it using the right %:

(sequenser-tempo/loop-tempo)*100% = adjust-tempo
(93 bpm / 98 bpm) * 100 % = 94,88% of the original tempo

What if I have a wave file (a loop) but I don't know it's exact tempo, and I want to squeez it into 1 measure?

Cake6 could do this with the "fit to measure" option available when importing a wav. It would really suck if they took this feature out in version 9.

I've been using Cakewalk sequensers since Pro Audio 7, and cannot remember I've seen that feature in any of these versions. I'm sure I would have noticed cause I had the same problem as you... (you told me not to say it, but "why not use sonar"?)

The only sollution I can think of is to timestrech as I've mentioned, with a little twist.

(seq-time/loop-time)*100% = adjust-tempo%
where seq-time is the time cakewalk uses to play 1 measure. Looptime is the time of the loop. All in sec's.

To find out the time cakewalk uses to play 1 measure, use this formula:
( beats * 60 sec)/bpm = secs
where beats is the beats pr. measure. If you play in 4/4 it would be 4, 3/4 = 3 beats, and so on. Bpm is Cakewalks bpm.
Eksample: You play a song in 4/4 in 120 bpm.
(4 beats* 60 sec ) / 120 bpm = 2 sec

Good luck!

There's a "Fit to time" thing under the "Edit" menu. There's a good bit on how to use it in the manual in Tutorial 3 if you've got it (its also in the help files). Baically you select the part of the track you want, open the "fit to time" doobrie and select the new end time you want the track to end at.

Hey, you're right!
Wonder why I haven't noticed before...
