Hi! Just found this forum and thought I'd upload a track from my current project for some expert analysis... all comments welcome though keep in mind that I'm very much a 'bedroom producer' : )

The name of my project is 'ghosts of sadako' the song is called 'omega'.

Haegl - 1ghosts of sadako - omega (final mix) on SoundCloud - Create, record and share your sounds for free

Equipment used (cheap but cheerful!)

DAW: Cubase 5

Guitar: Maverick guitar > Line 6 floor Pod > guitar cab impulse
Bass: Yamaha bass guitar > Ampeg SVX VST > bass cab impulse
Drums: samples programmed using Kontakt

Mastering: Izotope Ozone used for EQ/compression/limiter
Monitoring: Panasonic Hi-Fi speakers (yes I know, I know!)

Good playing, the recoridng sounds good. To me there seems to be a little scooped effect in the mids that is preventing the track feeling up front. The guitar parts also sound a little fizzy in the high, perhaps by EQ the high frequency more carefully they could sound better. But overall good work, I like the song.

thanks for your comments. I am very glad you said that because I've been debating changing the EQ curve on this track all day. Actually before I read your comment I did cut the hi-mids around the 8khz area to 'soften' the mix a little as I felt it was quite 'harsh' on the ears when I played it in the car.
