Yeah, been working on this one for a couple days. I hate using drum loops, but what the hell, I don't have a drummer on hand.

Listening to this, the drums sound a bit louder. In my car they seemed to fit right in? What can the difference be?

But it's me playing acoustic guitars and bass.

If any one wants to put some real drums on the track let me know and I'll email you the track with out drums. How about some vocals, lead guitar or acoustic piano?

First impression was it sounds like it's pumping a lot. I'm listening on headphones right now, and it's making my head pulse. Plus just looking at the waveform in soundcloud it looks like the classic smashed mastering. Soundcloud compresses on it's own and makes all my stuff sound like crap, so I've been using drop box...man, i feel like I'm underwater with this mix...could also be tremolo on something too?

Second impression...the acoustics is distinct, but the rest sounds like it's all mashed together. No definition. Some EQ cuts here and there, and building space for everything should help.

The tones are all good. Cool song, has lots of potential, I just think the mix coupled with the smashstering (smashed+mastering) make it hard to listen to.

Thanks for the feed back. I do have a bit of chorus on the bass guitar. I also do have the smashed mastering on it. I'll remove the plugs and do some eq-ing.

It's a cool little progression. The biggest things holding it back are the stiff programmed drums - the snare sound is just kind of flat and lifeless - and the bassline is kind of tough to hear and lacks definition... and there's some low-level electrical hum going on through the whole thing that sounds someone stepping on an unplugged patch cord. Definitely has potential though!

Dude, not to be harsh, but I can hear breathing and all sorts of other random noises going on in your mix - at least that's what it sounds like through my small headphones... if those drums weren't there I suspect that it'd be pretty hairy to listen to.

IMO the guitar sound is way over effected too - less is more on acoustic.

The drums have been mentioned already.

I do like the actual tune, however.. I think you just need to get the recording part of it happening a bit better... :drunk:

Yes there are background noises. Not to cop out, I live in a house with a shit load of people coming and going. My next goal is to get sound treatment to help reduce the noises. Something I should have done 1st, but I didn't listen to advise I got on this site. So if anybody else is reading this thinking about getting into recording, get sound treatment before sinking your budget on gear.

I do get distracted while tracking from household noises and passing vehicles, and that detracts from my performances a lot.

Thanks........I kind of like it too.....the drums is a loop. Waiting to get a drummer over to record "real drums".

I'll keep working on the tune.
