Forgot to mention that I would really like some advice on E.Q.-
ing my vox.How can I make it clear and the lyrics understandable
w/o taking away the low end that seems to be the life of them?(the vox)

Well, I'm guessing you'll get more responses when you do some more posting about other folks tunes, but I couldn't let this one disappear because this is a GREAT tune.

Really really really cool. And good to hear someone on the board who may draw the Tom Waits comparisons away from me.:)

The vox sound great to me, eq-wise. And awesome guitar. Both remind me a lot of Blind Willie Johnson, who's one of my all time faves.

Great tune.

Chris

Chris, thanks for the response. One of the things I was wondering about is are the vox understandable? Some one told me they had trouble making out the words.
I actually have been on this board for about two years now and have responded to a lot of peeps music in the clinic.I changed
internet service providers about a month ago and when I changed
my email address in my profile it messed my account up,so I had to reregister, thus the newb status.

Chris,I went to your site and listened to a couple of tunes.Rice and beans is very cool.Kind of like John Prine meets Towns van zandt and Tom Waits.

Well,
Let me just say if I could ever get my shit to sound as good as yours I would be very happy.

Fucking Strat kicks ass !!!!!!!!!!

The vox are totally understandable to me. I don't hear any problem there.

Of course I can actually understand what Blind Willie Johnson is saying too, so I might not be the best one to ask...:)

Oh and, yeah: I thought you'd been around awhile... I take back my "newbie" comment.:)

Yo! Whisker Biscuit Man! You're my hero! (love that tune)

Very, very cool, tune!
I can understand the vox perfectly and what a terrific contrast between your vocal and that Strat! I likes it a lot. Mix is cool based on a couple listens through headphones. Gotta put it in the studio tomorrow.

Did I mention that Strat sound? Shee-iiiiii-ttttttttt! Mine doesn't sound like that - (could it be my gold lace-sensor pickups?) Tons of balls in that tone, man! (nice playin', too!)

Nice work, my friend!

Wow man

Tom Waits with cool tunes! This is good stuff. The only thing I would do would be to bring the vocals up in volume A LITTLE--not much.

Good guitar and I love the voice.

Good tune!

Ya, I have about every Tom Waits studio album and a few boots, so I may as well jump in on the comparisons. :) You and Groucho should harmonize. :D

That strat does sound nice.

There's something happening in the left...maybe the pick of the acoustic. It's a little distracting, but it's probably something you won't be able to edit. No big deal i guess.

Got me thinking about picking up another Strat. It's now # 15 on the new gear list. :)

Good song man. Guitar sounds nice.

Tom

New strat, WOW, playing too!!

Christmas came early for you, now get funky!

That sounded so good, all I want to do is hit play again, gotta go.

Great work!!

actually, I can edit it.I have noticed it too.The noise is from the acoustic guitar.I miced it in an A.-B. configuration, and the bridge
mic is a bit loud in the mix. Also the acoustic is strung nashville,
which tends to make it kinda tinny anyway. This was the first
time I ever recorded an acoustic without going direct,so I hope to get better at it.
Thanks to all for the kind words.I really appreciate them.i would also like to thank everyone on this board because I have really learned a lot here abuot how to make a good recording. My goal is to always make the next one a little bit better.

that strat does sound nice.. good leads.. the lyrics were a bit hard to understand.. the leads sounded louder than the vocals in a few parts.. especially the lead @1:37.. that came in louder than the vocal.. the voice itself is strange to me.. either way I enjoyed the listen..

Nice tune SHEPPARDB, strat sounds great. Vocal are a little difficult to understand, but that kind of goes with the territory when you have that kind of gravelly voice. I like the way you sing and don't think you need to mess with it too much. Nice job man.

Srat sounds good.....kinda Frog Man Henry sort of vocal thing going on there...........cool.

Yo' Shep, I'm listening to this joint as I type and I'm likin' this!
Great mix with the acoustic and strat. Feelin' the acoustic solo at around 2:21, Them thar' Waits/Poindexter style you're lyrically
spittin' is nice.
Lotta' 'Verb up in there, yet at the same time lends it that gritty feelin' musically!

Nice and Nasty homeboy!!

Great tone on the Strat. Good playing all the way around. Vocals are outstanding. Almost Tom Wait-ish. The only weak point is the drum machine but when you ain't got a drummer, well, I guess you just ain't got a drummer.

Really nice strat sound. Well played. What's the signal chain?

I like the vocal too. Really all of it sounds pretty cool!
