I am about to start preforming at a small coffee shop and i need to buy an amp, microphone, and maybe a recorder.

what type of microphone and acoustic amp do you reccomend. I want to spend no more than 300 or 400 dollars. My gutiar has a fishman stereo blender.

Is it cheaper to record on your computer? all i have now is a sound blaster, i would like something i could record with and take the file and burn it onto a CD. BTW, my computer is a Dell 4300 if that matters.

i assume your doing acoustic stuff at the coffeehouse. most coffeehouses, if they have open mic usually have a small PA system or something. you should be able to plug your acoustic guitar into the mixing board. they also should provide a mic to use. I do open mic often at my local coffeehouse, it's a good time and a fine way to hone your chops. Look in the used musical section of the paper or swap sheet for a small PA system. Look for the Shure SM 58 mic. it's the only mic you will ever need to buy for coffee house gigs. check out www.musiciansfriend.com for ideas and prices. think about mini disc for recording but with your limited budget, you may not have enuff loot. good luck, Charva

SM 58 would be the way to go in my opinion.....always good for something........if possible, find out if they have a PA.......if they do, i would suggest micing the guitar rather than getting an acoustic amp.......i've used acoustic amps before and it just doesn't compare to a miced job
