Hello All,

This should be a croud-pleaser. Here's my first attempt at digital recording/mixing. It's a cover of Tennesse Ernie Ford's "16 Tons". It's campy, it's sinister, it's ballsy. If you don't love it, I'll eat my hat. No - really.

I want harsh critiques: too much reverb! muted vocals! lousy amateur! - and so on. It's 1.80MB, so it'll download quick.

Thanks!

Okay,

Thanks for the feedback! :) Here's an alternate download site:

Just in case the above link is invisible, here it is w/o hyperlink:

From Geocities... You have to right click and "Save As..."
Else you'll get that error page.

As to the recording...
The only thing that really irked me was the delay effect on the vocals.
It got really annoying, really fast.
I think it should have been used a bit more judiciously (only as an accent)

Thank you for the feedback, Disposable. I had trouble compressing the vocals - some parts came out kinda soggy. So I thought "why not flesh them out a bit?" But now I can hear what you mean. I was trying to avoid sounding "vintage" and I just went too far in that direction. Maybe I should try to make it sound a little less "produced?"

Please, keep it coming! Is the percussion too "canned?" Vocals too nasal? I don't know enough yet to learn from my own mistakes. Please point them out for me! Constructively, si'l voux plait.

Thanks! :)

Tom
