Going from my Korg D1600 to a few goodies I have picked up. I have had a chance to use them on a casual basis in my home studio but nothing like Friday night will bring. I have a M-Audio Profire 2626 and a Focusrite Octopre MKII Dynamic that I plan to use for live recording on Friday. Drum tracks through the MKII and stereo (2) guitars, bass & vocals through the 2626. This will be 14 tracks at once & the last two tracks on the 2626 will be for over head drum mics .... 16 tracks at once.
The drums will be in one room, the vocals in a makeshift booth and the guitars & bass in another area with line level signals all back through an 8ch. headphone amp for each member to hear. My question is can anyone give advice to make the process run as smooth as possible? Drum Mic Techniques, Ways to keep the PC from freezing ect. It is a 2.2GHz with 4 gig of memory. As much of the bloat has been removed as it is as bear bones as my knowledge will allow me to strip out of it.
