This is my first time mixing on studio monitors (BX5's) and wanted to hear some opinions. I do have a sub with them but everything still sounds so bright..still getting used to the sound of the BX5's. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
Btw, here's my ridiculous recording chain: MXL V63M - Samson MDR624 - Samson C-com16 - M-Audio 2496. Don't laugh :)

the song is called million miles...if the link doesn't work then F*k it

Personally what is needed is a tighter sounding low end and high end. Maybe a bit more 'air' frequencies in there. The guitar stuff sounds a bit muted and rolled off... not sparkling.

Pretty nice job overall though.

"What were the chords? A, E, F#m"
-- ya those are some of them...E6, A maj7, D9 w/A bass with no actual "D" note, B11, B7 b9. And a couple more little things in there that are just two noters..i have no idea what to call 'em.

I like it. The delay on the guitar very cool. Nice singing.
Your band needs a drummer :D

thanks...i wish i had a drummer!! they are so hard to find :(

Not bad at all. The mix is pretty clean, it just seems to lack any dynamics. The vocals could also be out in front a bit more. Learning new monitors is a pain.

I like the guitar interlude. That was real nice. I think it needs a bit more balance, though.

This would be much better, as would 99.9% of music with a real drummer.

Nice job.

I totally agree...i think i'll pick up a small used kit soon. Thanks for your input :)

I like it. Good mix. A bit boomy or muddy in the lo mids maybe. Vocals are at a fine level.
A tip on mixing, (from an amateur!) This is when you are at the point of fine tuning your mix after you have spent a good few hours on it. (well i take that long anyway!) When mixing try and match the frequencies of high, low and mids with a mastered commercial CD of the same style that you like the overall sound of. By matching the frequencies i mean for example: If there is not as much high end in your mix as there is in the comercial CD then add hi EQ on the certain single tracks that adding hi EQ will not damage the sound of that track. But dont solo anything when doing this. Treat your mix as if it is one stereo track. Comprende?

yep, thanks you guys for the tips! This really helps.
