Hi everyone, I'm getting ready to make my first purchase of a TASCAM product, and wanted to ask some advice. I'm going to be doing a little home recording, mostly with just guitar, bass and vocals, never more than 2 at a time. I know ideally that means I could get by with the US-800 and probably never have a problem. At the same time, I figure that the US-1641 and US-1800 are only like 60 bucks more, and in the off-chance I ever have drums to record, I could do it.
I guess my questions are as follows:
1. What are the real differences between the 1641 and the 1800? All I'm seeing is that the 1800 comes with a newer version of Cubase.
2. Am I just wasting my money buying the models with more inputs when I could probably get by with the 800? Is there any reason I would want to avoid the 800, any bugs or hardware issues I should know about?
I'll be running this on a 64-bit version of Windows 7.
Thanks for any advice, and I look forward to reading through the forums.
