Take Er Easy

this is a little embarrassing for me to post because i'm still pretty new to recording and i'm not very good on guitar and im not a great songwriter.:o

this is something i came up with off the top of my head. it started with the simple chord progression. so first i put down the drums as sort of a click track, then recorded the chord progression over it, then recorded another guitar part on the right, which was me just trying to come up with something on the spot.

anyway, please give me honest feedback, I know it's not that great, so I'm open to all criticism on everything...recording quality, guitar playing, songwriting, everything.

good or bad feedback is cool, just want honest opinions.

It wont let me post links yet I guess so you'll have to copy/paste those into your browser. :(

Dude, if that's really your first recording, you're gonna be fine. Sounds pretty damn good. It's not easy to get a ear-pleasing acoustic sound.

I'm not a songwriter, so I can't comment on the song. bu tit sounded fine to me. I can hear it with some soft synth strings coming in here and there. maybe a very low-key simple bass line. Just keep playing with it. You're off to a good start. :)

i forgot to say that i never put a lead over it cause i couldn't come up with anything :( so it's not really finished and im not sure what i should do with it, if anything

thanks greg :)

yeah recording acoustic is a pain in the ass. i kind of just stopped caring about it though, stressing over stuff like that takes all the fun away from it. so i just set the mic up about a foot back from the guitar and hit record :p

I'm only listening on computer speakers, but it sounds pretty good to me. You were saying you are trying to figure out what else to put on it. I think what it needs is vocals, but I think you off to a great start especially if that is your first recording.

Sounds real nice... bright, clear, and loud. I agree about recording acoustic, can get so frustrating in a tune like this where it's completely not about frustration. Just have a nice spot and nice setup so when you want to play you can just play away and let the creativity flow. Don't be embarrassed to post since you'll learn, or say you're not good at songwriting or guitar, just have fun with it and see where it goes :) Great start!

Thanks for all the great comments everyone. :)

I've tried again to come up with a lead for it, just something real simple but I'm not crazy about it.

If anyone out there happens to want to add something to it that would be awesome. Maybe a rockin guitar solo or something haha

Anyway thanks for the comments. ive been reading on this site for so long now, all the information is addictive. :D
