I've just bought some basic recording equipment and tested it with some of my own (saxophone) playing. When I played back the cassette, I had to crank up the gain on my preamp much higher than normal. I followed the directions for the mixer (Behringer) and cassette deck, regarding how high the meters should go. The microphone did not require phantom power, and there was no other connection to the mixer. A straight CD to cassette copy does not have this loss of volume. Is this normal or am I making an obvious blunder?
