Here is my first (brief) recording that I made with my BR1600. I am still figuring out mic placement for my drums, and haven't played the guitar in 6 years so I beg your indulgence. Any comments or suggestions on how to improve my recordings would be welcome. Only the guitars are run through the COMOS processor, the drums are recorded dry.

Mics: Marshal MXL 990 (over heads), PG56 (snare), PG52 (kick).

hey this is good bro... (still listening)...

i would imagine that the band wouldnt sound much better live... of course you didnt attempt the vox... i wouldnt want to do that either if i was afaid that i would mess up a great recording like this...

now im listening with head phones ....

wow even better (first time was on laptop speakers) is this guitar direct-in recorded?? sounds good... i get pretty good recordings going straight in through a processor too... and i dont have a good enough amp to mic...lol...but dont tell anyone else ... micing a guitar is the only way to go....(stern school master voice)

keep it up man and if you feel brave hit those vox up...

Thanks for your kind words. The guitars were direct in as I no longer have an amp. A little tweeking and the onboard effects sound all right. Brave has nothing to do with it, as I have no gifts in the vox department (self awareness is half the battle). Got to work with some bass loops to fill in the bottom end though. One feature I have not explored on the BR1600 yet.

Ha! That's great. Can't believe you got the drumset sound you did with those mic's. Snare's especially nice, to my ear.

Hey sounds real good man. I like the sounds you have here :)
I'd add a little more verb/delay to the intro guitar, sounds a tad thin there. Sounds good when things pick up. The lead sounds good and the drums excellent. Could use some more bass.
Good stuff overall. Are you going to try vocals for this? Just for the fun of it, if you'd like some low quality Snakedog vocals for this just holler :D

I can believe it. Those 990's ROCK for overheads! I use 'em all the time!

The only thing thix mix needs is.....

MORE COWBELL BABY!!!!!

Sounds real good. I like the big snare sound, but on my (crappy) speakers, it's just a touch too out front. Good job

Thanks for the feedback everyone. I will try what you suggested with the intro Snakedog, send any vocal tracks you can spare and I will place them into the mix. Yeah, I need a bass...just got to lay low after recent spending on the multi-tracker and mics so the wife does not lose her sense of humour.

This is pretty close to the original sound, at least from what I remember. I must have played this song a thousand times on my stereo and jammed along with it. At least as many times my Dad kept yellin' at me to turn it down.....lol....Maybe if I revive this thread, Snakedog to do some bass and vocals... ;) :D :)

oh yeah

definitely more cowbell baby!!!!
