So, I got my first project! EEK! I haven't even completed a project of my own yet. Anyway, I am to record a friend's daughter playing piano at their house. I'm really nervous
In preperation I've purchased two DMP2s and two MXL-603s. I already have an NT-1 and a Behringer Ultragain Pro MIC 2200. All of this goes into a Delta 1010.
Should I consider a compressor such as the RNC for this project? If so, would I use it the day of the recording or after the fact when I am attempting to master everything?
Also, in poking around this site I noticed most people recommed mic'ing the back of the piano and the front with the panel removed. Should I mic the front with the 603s and the back with the NT-1? Should I maybe pick up another NT-1 and have two pair of mic's? What about mic'ing the room for that ambience in the tracks?
Am I missing anything?
I plan to get some practice in mic'ing my acoustic using different combinations of the above setup to help get me "in the groove".
Sorry for all the questions. I just want to get this thing right. At least I am not charging him
Thanks to all!
