Through a connection with a singer I've been accompanying this year, I was asked to play solo guitar (wallpaper jazz) for two hours.

About two months ago, I played in public for the first time for zero cash, just to get a sense of how long I could stretch out the time with the paltry few tunes I knew well enough by memory from working out chord-and-melody parts, and found I could make it through almost an hour. I figured with that, and with repeating choruses an extra couple of time here and there, and playing some partial pieces where I had some stuff worked out, and with just playing the chords out of the real book to a bunch of others, and maybe even repeating one or two in a slightly different manner, I could make it through two hours if people weren't listening too closely.

Anyway, it turned out great. I even left out a song or two somehow, and never took a break, and played straight for about 2 hrs and 15 minutes. I played about as well as I'm currently able, and no one really listened very closely, and I received warm kudos at the end and got paid.

Good work!

Hard to do the solo thing - nobody to hide behind! :D
