Hi everyone

Here's a new tune of mine i recently mixed on my newly accuired yammy N12, all the audio was recorded on my trusty firebox, but this was the first time i've ever attempted a mix otb though, I really enjoyed the experience and was looking for any comments, feedback, on the tune, mix, performance in general from your good selves!

Hi,

This is a cool tune you have here. The vocals have an airy quality with nice delay and/or reverb on them. I would prefer maybe a bit more bottom end to this sound though. Liking the harmonies.

The rhythm guitar sounds a bit small and immediate in comparison. I'd prefer to hear that have a bigger, fuller sound. Was is double tracked?

The lead stuff isn't doing it for me. I don't hear this as adding to your tune. It seems kind of random in terms of the playing style, the smallish sound and the way it more or less continues thoughout. I'd drop it altogether in favor of a simpler and more repetitive melodic element...keyboard?

The buildup of vocals towards the end is really nice. I just think basically there's a disconnect between that sound and the guitar stuff you have captured. I hope this is at least somewhat helpful.

Decent song.:) I suggest the synth bed come in earlier, it needs something extra. Try sneaking in the synth bed around 30 seconds in.

The geetar is a bit out of tune.:p The synth stuff can come up in the mix more to give it a bigger buildup.

Yep, pretty nice tune but a bit of a mess at the moment. The low E on the rhythm guitar is out of tune. The lead guitar conflicts with the vocal melody instead of complementing it. Think about "call and response" (ie. playing a lead after the vocal has finished its line) rather than trying to compete with it. Also, an acoustic lead is very difficult to execute because it's first and foremost a percussion element - the timing has to be near perfect for it to sit properly. I like the song melody and harmonies though. What about ditching the lead guitar and just using the synth as a counterpoint?

Thanks for listening and for the feedback and comments guys, im glad you like the tune!

This version is actually a remake from a full electic britpop ish version and that one had a synth in from the start so I'll pop it into this one and see how its sounds, thanks for the suggestion.

I do like to have what i call a "doodle" acoustic guitar track on nearly all my tunes, i have to agree its not the best one i've played so it wouln't pain me to junk it at least until the solo, not sure whether the wierd chord i play in the main backing (which is d/tracked btw) is the one you say is making the guitar sound out, it wouldn't be the first thing i've done with that problem though if it is:o

I have to say that mixing out of the box is great fun and putting it through the n12 defintely made a huge difference to the sound i normally get, and i love the firebox and the quality i can get off that, it's been great and very productive for me.

Thanks again for Listening!
