first live basement recording

Rythm guitar is as loud as the lead which I didn't like. Vocals are lower in volume than both guitars and the drums sound distant to every other instrument. Try boosting the drum tracks a bit and the vocals too. Then put the rythm guitar back a bit. Just a fraction of an adjustment should do it on all accounts. It's not bad for a live basement recording. Just needs some tweeking.

John,

I don't think anything was really out of place other than the volume of the rhythm guitar... everything else seemed ok.

I really dig the tone of the guitars and the playing is quite nice... good job.

ya i havent got around to riding the guitar levels yet.
getting the gt. sounds was easy -we both played thru old Fenders etc.

you're right about the drums sounding a bit distant-i think i need to pull them into a pocket somehow--I do have them bussed to a comp tho.

i could try running them thru one of my 'real" compressors- a Fatman or
the RNC.
everything is software rite now.

and thanx.

Well my foot's tapping! Great gtr playing and tone! The drums sound very live, as does that creamy left gtr. I'm curious as to why the right gtr is so dry though.

Same here. It sounded nice, except for what was already mentioned, so I won't ramble about that. I was just curious about the right guitar. It was almost lost in the mix.

And it was a bit long ;)

yes ive adjusted the guitars since -added verb to the right[think thats me].

i did a very stupid thing to my guitar setup - I used a sm57 on one speaker[fine]-and a c3000 on the other speaker---BUT I had the mike backwards!
So it sounds outa faze/wierd[thin] -somehow now by panning both guitar tracks center fills out the sound a bit.
duh! live n' learn.

There will be some major edits-as we'd never played to gether before as a unit and had no rehearsal the song structure is loose and tooo long-but I didnt want to bog down the proceedings with mini rehearsals before each tune.

Thanks.ill try and put up a "snippet' next time of some tweaks.

thanks very much.

Yea, maybe it's too long but I love to listen to anyone who plays their instrument well, and you all certainly do.

I'm on phones so I won't offer any level critiques...besides, I think everything has been covered..

again let me say....nice playing on everyones part.
