this is pretty good...but Im no expert on this genre

the vocals are way to low, get them upfront, they are completely blasted out by the bass..

Id stick a high pass on the whole mix and take some of that bass away..

also mix to around 14db...this feels like there is no headroom and is distorting on my system...

sounds like you have talent though..lucky b*st*rd :)

i agree im tinkering with adobe audition and audactiy. Any suggestions on other usefull programs? I need a better Microphone, mixer, and what not. I plan on producing my own and maybe helping out a friend. Again keep in mind I'm new to recording at my own will.

try reaper mate...only $60 if you choose to license it...will cover everything you need

just remember to keep things at a decent level when mixing...bounce it down to a stereo wav file then start a new project and bring up the volume with that..dont push the faders at the mixing stage

if thats your first attempt its a pretty good job...this is the part when you learn the most so a mix now is nothing compared to what you'll manage fairly quickly

if you're looking to get an audio interface think about a line6 one...it comes with podfarm software which has some excellent microphone pre-amps..professional standard imho
