I fancy Fancy
Hi everyone. I'm very new to this, and all I know about recording (pretty much bugger all) I've picked up from this site in the last month or so.

I've written 3 or 4 songs in my life, and this is the first I've recorded. I use a newly bought Zoom MRS1266, an SM58, and er, that's it, apart from my instruments of course.

Any road up, I'd appreciate your comments - but please keep it simple - I am very, very stupid.

And yes - I am in love with Jennifer Aniston, but I'm not dangerous.

Sounds a lot better than my first recording. Beginning kinda' reminds me of the Smiths.

From a performance standpoint, the drums are kinda' rough...Not sure if you're using loops or some kind of machine, but I don't think most drummers would use tom rolls like that.

Something sounds kinda' phasey with the drums...like a cheap mp3 sounding phasiness.

The crunch guitars are pretty middy...and they kinda' clash with the vocal when they come in, so you need to either cut some frequencies in the electric rhythm guitars (probably between 1K and 3K) or bring the vocal up when it's competing with the guitars.

I'm probably not being helpful...recording just takes tons of practice...you're off to a good start.

Thanks for listening Chris. Yeah, the drums are just a drum track that is included with the Zoom - it's difficult to get any kind of realistic feel with them - I more or less used them as a timimng aid.

I'll bear in mind your comments about the guitars and voice clashing a bit. But hey, if it reminded you of The Smiths, I'm very happy about that !

And your daughter is amazing.

Sounds bloody great. How clean is that sound? Really well recorded it sounds to me. Acoustic guitar is good...how'd you record that? Reminded me of Outkast to some extent. Some aspects of the vocals were a little weak

G'Day Monkey. Got the acoustic sound by pointing the mic at my acoustic !! I directed it about the 14th fret rather than the soundhole, which someone on here said to do. Hopefully took some of the boominess out of it.

Yeah, my vocals are a bit dodgy - I've got a very limited range. I might get the singer from my band to do all the vox on anything else I do.

Enjoyed the watery song by the way - were you stirring a galss of water at the start ? Nice effect, particularly with the panning left and right.
