You're probally going to get insanely bored with just a kick a snare and hi-hats..... There's only so much you can do with that.
You can always find a decent used tama set somewhere.... I have an old tama swingstar set that I paid about 250 for second hand. Thoose drums were a lot better than my first kit.
I would stay away from anything "to cheap to be true"..... Theese drums will always sound bad, and you'd be much better off sinking the same amount of money into a used kit that might have some "battle scars".
Tama and Pacific (if dw was fender, pacific would be squire) would be a good place to start..... And sabian b8 pros are a good cymbol for the money. All my cymbols are zildjians, except for my hi-hats, which are b8s. They sound decent enough to gig with. (I'd rather have something else, but it could be a lot worse).
I'd recomend either starting out on just snare and learning your basic "paradiddles" and that sort of stuff.....
Or just going for it and getting a kit that has a bass drum, a snare, a tom, and a floor tom, and then start looking for a cymbol pack that has a ride, hi-hats, and a crash.....
With that you'd be well on your way....
As far as learning how to play drums, that's a hard thing to teach somebody. It's mainly "feel"..... listen to your favorite song and try to play along.
If you're favorite band is slipknot or tool something you might need to go out and buy an ac/dc cd and try to play along with that cd instead..... Or weezer, or just something you think you could keep up with you know....
When I first started learning how to drum (about 10 years ago) my poor mom had to listen to me attempt to drum along to "lithium" by nirvana atleast 1,000 time. LOL
Alright man I hope this helps.
